On the 4th of February, eight CHANGE Agents and Trainers from Germany, the Netherlands and France, as part of the Let’s CHANGE Project, came to Brussels to meet various members of the European Union institutions.

On the 12th of February, we went to the European Parliament in Strasbourg to follow the vote for a strategy to end Female Genital Mutilation.

The resolution passed with 612 votes in favour.  

Our member Excision, parlons-en ! organised an important seminar on ending FGM at national, European and international level. This was an opportunity to show that we are stronger together. 

ActionAid Sweden marked the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation taking part in a national conference organised by local authorities. 

AIDOS launched the Italian version of the “How to talk about FGM” guide with healthcare professionals. The team also took part in a series of events in Rome and in Brussels.

AkiDwA launched their "Manifesto for an FGM free Ireland". AkiDwA outlined five key actions which the incoming government needs to take to tackle FGM while engaging with communities.

On the 8th of February, APF took part in the "5th Regional Encounter for the End of FGM", where they presented the project Gender ABC.

FSAN and Pharos, in partnership with Amref Flying Doctors, Defence for Children and Plan International Netherlands, organised an event in the Netherlands on knowledge sharing and leadership skills.

GAMS Belgium called on the Belgian government with political asks including prevention and protection of all girls and women at risk of FGM. 

MIGS hosted a screening on the evening of Tuesday, 18th February of the award-winning  film inspired by Ifrah Ahmed.

On the 6th of February, ICRH shared the knowledge clip developed by ANSER on the issue of FGM medicalisation (when FGM is practiced by healthcare professionals).

Lebkom e.V.’s FULDA-MOSOCHO Project (FMP) in ending FGM in Kenya was a great success.

Parents of 1500 girls committed to not making their daughters undergo FGM, in Kisii South (Kenya).

Lessan e.V. held its annual symposium on FGM from an European framework perspective. Main speakers were, among others, MEP Dr. Pierrette Herzberger-Fofanna, Dr. med. Christoph Zerm and Prof. Serigne Mbaye.

Médicos del Mundo took part in multiple events and actions around Spain including a flashmob in the city centre, an animation on social media and participating in a radio programme.

The National FGM Centre took part in an event hosted by the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, with a focus on raising awareness. With over 80 attendees, the event had expert speakers, including the head of the Centre, Leethen Bartholomew. 

Coinciding with the 6th of February, Orchid Project launched its new campaign to highlight the impacts of Female Genital Mutilation on a girl’s life.

The campaign is called “Don’t Cut Her Short”.

In Spain, a new national network against Female Genital Mutilation saw the light: our Spain-based members are all part of it. They organised an event in Plaza de Callao on the 6th of February to present their manifesto.

WADI published a press release announcing that in the Garmian region of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, no new case of FGM was recorded during the last year. They conducted a ceremony in Kalar. 

The Swiss Network Against FGM/C published its guide on FGM and child protection. The guide is targeting professionals in different areas of work, including health, asylum, social work and education.

The Wassu Gambia Kafo and the Wassu-UAB Foundation organised the "IV International Forum on FGM in The Gambia: Knowledge for Change", on February 5th and 6th in Brufut.

TERRE DES FEMMES organised their annual Germany-wide book campaign on FGM and promoted the movie “In Search”.

On the 6th of February, We Speak Out launched "Be the One", a campaign to urge Bohra families to end FGM.
